A modern car engine is faced with very high loads, both mechanical and thermal, in its daily work. Consequently, the engine oil should also have the appropriate characteristics. The quality of engine oils for modern cars must be perfect. To obtain the highest performance¬†characteristics, special elements are added to motor oil, the so-called additives, which improve the properties of the motor oil. In automobile oils of well-known manufacturers the number of additives exceeds a dozen. For example, anti-wear compositions – they reduce the wear of rubbing parts of the engine by several percent. There are detergent additives that prevent “varnish” from settling on different parts of parts, etc.

The essence of their action is that they “do not work” at low temperatures, keeping the original degree of oil fluidity, but they thicken it at higher temperatures, providing the desired compromise.
